Steve Cole is a well-respected self-employed flooring installer in the Abilene area. His family includes wife Shelly, children: Danya Dent and husband Weston; Keenan and wife Ashley and Quentin and wife Kayla. Steve and Shelly have two grandchildren and another one on the way.
Steve was recently diagnosed with a serious form of cancer. He has undergone surgery at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas and will require extensive additional treatment. That means more trips to Texas in the upcoming months.
His extended family, many friends and Shelly’s employer, ALCO Stores, Inc. are sponsoring a benefit dinner and auction Oct. 11 at the Abilene Elks Club. There will be a reception at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the live auction at 7:30 p.m.
A catered meal by West’s Country Mart will be served for $10 per person. The meal is sponsored by ALCO Stores, Inc. with all dinner proceeds going to the Cole family.
The auction will be conducted by Grey’s Auction Service, which donated the services. Gerald Greywill serve as auctioneer. All auction proceeds go directly to the Cole family.

Canfield and Holmes said they will be happy to arrange for pick up and storage of donated items until the event date. They will accept any size donation and will acknowledge all those who contribute.
