A 55-year-old Abilene man was arrested on drug charges after a house on S.W. 2nd Street was searched Monday and Tuesday.
Randy Meier was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal possession of a weapon.
Dickinson County Sheriff Gareth Hoffman said due to the living conditions, two children ages 9 and 5 were taken into protective custody and placed with a family member.
The sheriff’s department had been receiving citizen complains about Meier possibly selling methamphetamine, Hoffman said.
Meier is currently incarcerated in the Dickinson County jail awaiting first appearance.
More arrests are expected as a result of the investigation, Hoffman said.
Meier’s arrest was the result a search warrant issued after a two-month investigation into the distribution of methamphetamine.
The Dickinson County Drug Enforcement Unit, the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, the Abilene Police Department and the Kansas Highway Patrol Special Response Team executed the warrant at Monday night after 1623 S.W. 2nd in Abilene.
