Funeral services for Arliss E. Kready, age 82, of Abilene will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the Bible Community Church in Abilene with Pastor Stan Norman officiating. Mr. Kready passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013 at his home in Abilene.
He was born October 27, 1930 the son of Herman and May (Bistline) Kready. He graduated from Abilene High School with the class of 1948 and served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army.
On October 22, 1955 he married Shirley Jean Hogan in Abilene. Arliss worked for the United State Postal Service for over 40 years and for Shouse Implement for several years working on lawn mowers. He was a member of the Isis Shrine Temple and the Masonic Lodge #98 for over 50 years, the American Legion, the VFW, and the Early V-8 Club. Arliss enjoyed restoring pedal tractors, and restoring anything with a motor especially cars, trucks, and Cushman’s.
He is survived by his daughter Arlene and husband Ray Willems of Hutchinson; sons Warren Kready of Abilene, John and wife Theresa Kready of Abilene; brother Don and wife Jo Kready of Topeka; seven grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Shirley on July 5, 2007 and his parents.
Masonic graveside services for Arliss will be in the Abilene Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
