Quentin C. Smith, 75, died Saturday, Jan.12, 2013, in Abilene. He was born May 1, 1937, at Vine Creek, Kansas, the son of Ray H. and Nellie (Young) Smith. He attended local schools and graduated from Longford High School.
He was an Army veteran and had been a U.S. Postal Letter Carrier for 31 years. In August of 1965, he married Reva Morehouse Botz in Berryton.
All their married life was spent in Abilene. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Ray O., Samuel and Dan, sister, Maude Tyler and two infant siblings. He was a member of the Ray Avenue Baptist Church.
Survived by wife, Reva Smith, Abilene, daughter, Auralee Scofield, Abilene, son, Dennis Botz, Hight Ridge, Mo., three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; sister, Opal Kiekel, Buena Vista, Colo., three brothers, Quay Smith, Lecompton, Chester Smith, Longford, and Emery Smith, Buena Vista, Colo.
The family will receive friends 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Danner Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the Danner Funeral Home with Pastor John Day officiating. Interment will follow in the Abilene Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions in his name be made to the Ray Avenue Baptist Church or the Parkinsonís Disease Organization.
