LAMAR, Colo. –– Alan Carter, 63, died Aug. 7, 2013, in Salina. A Celebration of Life for longtime Abilene resident formerly of Oakley, was held at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at the Peacock Family Chapel in Lamar, with Pastor Bob Kelley of the United Christian Church in Oakley. Interment followed at Fairmount Cemetery in Lamar.
Per Alan’s request there was no visitation.
Alan was born on Dec.15, 1949, at La Junta, Colo., to Delbert and Velma (Cook) Carter He is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law; Otto Schwanz and brother-in-law; Paul Schwanz.
Alan is survived by his wife; Linda of the family home in Abilene, daughter; Joslyn Elpers of Shawnee, son Cody Carter of Gardner; two grandchildren; sister Kaye Ellen VanHee of Fowler, Colo., and brother James Carter of Billings, Mont. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Cora Schwanz of rural Lamar, brother-in-law Gary Schwanz of Cheyenne Wells, Colo., sister-in-law; Cheryl Schmitt of Edgewood, N.M., and sister-in-law; Carol Doyle of Madera, Calif.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Peacock Funeral Home and/or Oakley United Christian Church either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
