Sue I. Burnett, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at Village Manor in Abilene. She was born Feb. 7, 1924. in Ft. Smith, Ark. the daughter of Eugene “Bud” and Eula (Jackson) Hale. She graduated high school in Ft. Smith, Ark.
Sue married James “Jim” Burnett in 1944. Together they ran the Checker Lounge in Abilene for 25 years. Jim passed away March 13, 1983. Sue enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons Lowell and his wife Mary of Liberty, Mo., Gary and his wife Cindy of Basehor; sister Mildred Davis of Amarillo, Texas; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Sue was preceded in death by her loving husband Jim, daughter Linda, brothers Jimmy and Gene Hale, and her parents.
The family of Sue will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2013 at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow the visitation at the Abilene Cemetery.
