HERINGTON –– Patsy June Locke Miller, 81, lifelong resident of Herington, died Saturday, July 27, 2013, at her home. She was born Saturday, July 9, 1932, at Herington the daughter of Belmondt L. and Bessie Mae (Shafer) Locke.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Herington, with Pastor Bill Peterson officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Miller was a homemaker. She spent a majority of her working years with Tatge Chemical Company, until she retired to a life of volunteering. She graduated from Herington High School with the class of 1950.
Married C.E. “Ed” Miller on Saturday, Dec. 30, 1951, at the St. James Episcopal Church, Herington; he preceded in death on Sept. 2, 2005. Preceded in death by her brother Larry Locke, brother-in-law Glenn Pierce and her parents.
She is survived by her daughter Carrie Miller-Jones of Shawnee, sons: Tim Miller of Basking Ridge, N.J., and Hans Bailey of Killeen, Texas; four grandchildren; sisters Shirley Pierce of Wichita, Birdie Wooster of Herington, Emma Tucker of Pensacola, Fla; and her sister-in-law Catherine Locke of Kansas City, Kan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Herington Hospital Auxiliary, or the Hospice of Dickinson County; and they may be sent in care of the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home & Crematory, Herington Chapel, 404 S. Broadway, Herington, KS, 67449-3038.
