HERINGTON –– Walter F. Otte, 86, of rural Herington, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at the Medicalodges of Herington. He was born Sunday Nov. 21, 1926, on the farm near Lincolnville, the son of Ernest Henry Christoph and Bertha Albertina (Krause) Otte.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.mm Friday, July 26, 2013, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lincolnville, with Rev. Troy Slater officiating; burial will follow at the Lincolnville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 25, from 7 until 8 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.
Mr. Otte was farmer and stockman, and he was also a skilled carpenter.
He married Katherine Bell Bishoff on May 16, 1947, at Lincolnville; she survives of the home. He is also survived by his son Stanley Otte of Dwight, two sisters: Leona Otte and Viola Hubbard both of Herington, five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his daughter Dianna Thrift-Gillett, a sister Verna Peterson, and three brothers: Elmer Otte, Raymond Otte, and Wilbert Otte.
