Richard D. Raab Sr., 72, died Wednesday, July 17, in Abilene. He was born March 4, 1941 in Wayland, Mich., the son of Wilbur W. and Arla B. (Clawsen) Raab.
Richard was an Army Veteran. On Sept. 27 1962, he married Edna Marie Dornberger in Abilene. All of their married life has been spent in Abilene. He was employed by the Dickinson County Highway Department as a bridge crew supervisor, retiring in 2003. He was preceded in death by a son, Ricky in 2012 and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Edna, Abilene; two daughters April Finnigin, Navarre and Corrine Colburn, Fountain, Colo.; four sons, John Raab and Don Raab, both of Abilene. Gilbert Raab, Manchester, and Christopher Colburn, Fountain, Colo.; brother, Larry Raab, Wayland, Mich.;12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family has chosen cremation. A graveside memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Cheever Cemetery north of Abilene. The family suggests memorial contributions in his name be made to the Richard D. Raab memorial fund. They may be left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home P.O. Box 758 Abilene, KS 67410.
