HILLSBORO –– Donald D. Kohman, 92, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Parkside Homes, Hillsboro. He was born September 15, 1920, the second son of Albert and Emma (Fromm) Kohman, at the family home near Elmo.
Don graduated from Hope High School in 1938, attended Kansas State University one year and helped on the farm. He served in the United States Navy in 1942 with two years of training at Millsaps College, Jackson, Mississippi until 1946.
As an employee of Worthington Corporation, Buffalo, New York, Don supervised the installation of turbines throughout the United States, Canada, and off-shore oil rigs for many years.
Don accepted Christ as his personal Savior during his youth and became a member of the First Baptist Church of Dickinson County, Hope. During his retirement years in Hillsboro, Don faithfully attended the Ebenfeldt Mennonite Brethren Church and enjoyed music and athletic events at Tabor College.
Preceding Don in death were his parents, brother, Gordon (Margaret); and brother-in-law, Hal Bergen.
He is survived by his brother, Paul (Lawana), Hope; sister, Mary Ann Bergen, Springfield, Missouri; and nephews, Robert and Grady Bergen, Mark and Monte Kohman; and nieces,Suzanne Bergen McCulloch and Jill Bergen.
Memorial services will be Saturday, June 22, at 2 p.m. at the Jost Funeral Home, Hillsboro.
