Train/car crash

A Solomon woman was injured when this 2011 Honda collided with a Union Pacific train Wednesday evening.

SOLOMON — A 64-year-old Solomon woman was transported to Salina Regional Health Center for injuries after the vehicle she was driving collided with a freight train.

According to Lt. Chris Farris with the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Wendy Ewing crossed the Union Pacific tracks in the 100 block of South Popular at 6:22 p.m.

Farris said the vehicle was thrown 86 feet away from the tracks.

The sheriff’s office is investigating how the crash occurred.

Ewing’s was in fair condition at Salina Regional Thursday afternoon.
